North Port, Florida John Mosca, 87, formerly of Latham, died at his residence in North Port, Florida, on Thursday April 18, 2013. He was born and educated in Troy and was the son of the late Antonio and Carmella Castiglione Mosca. He moved to the Florida keys and then to North Port, Florida in 1991. John was manager of Columbia County Golf and Country Club for many years before moving to Florida. He was a charter member of the VFW in Menands, a member of the Colonie Elks, a veteran of WW II, US Navy and a member of San Pedro Catholic Church in North Port, Florida. Survivors include his wife, Joan A. McCartan Mosca of 62 years of North Port, Florida, his 3 sons, Michael J. (Caroline) Mosca of Clifton Park, Kevin (Suzie) Mosca of Sunrise Beach, Texas and Christopher (Martha) Mosca of Feura Bush, two daughters, Barbara (Edward) Potyrala of Watervliet and Susan Osborne of Vieques, Puerto Rico, 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brother of Mary Costa of Ballston Spa and Rose Strack of Troy, also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers James, Salvatore and Joseph Mosca. Funeral Friday, 9:00am at St. Ambrose Church, Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Internment in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday from 4 to 7pm. In lieu of flowers those who wish to remember John in a special way may make a contribution to the Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238.
