Cohoes – Marie Rose Vautrin passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 22, 2012 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family at St. Mary’s Hospital, Troy. God reached down early that morning to his garden on earth and picked the most beautiful flower he could find, a rose…Marie Rose. She was born in Cohoes, N.Y. on March 20, 1928 and lived there most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Omer and Alice Boyer Blais. She was a graduate of St. Joseph Business School. She worked at NYS Department of Civil Service, Barclay Home Products and Garden Way Company. She volunteered hundreds of hours at Our Lady of Hope in Latham and the Ford Nursing Home. She was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne and a member of the Cohoes Columbiettes for over 50 years. Marie enjoyed walking, cooking, traveling, playing cards, trips to the casinos and taking photos at family gatherings. Most of all she was the happiest when spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Beloved wife and best friend of the late Normand N. Vautrin for over 63 years. She is survived by her four devoted children, Dennis Vautrin (Maria Colamarino) of Latham, Michelle Normile, Annette Vautrin and Roger (Brenda) Vautrin all of Cohoes; seven grandchildren and four great-grandsons. Sister of George (Doris) Blais of Cohoes, John Paul (Helen) Blais of Latham, predeceased by her sisters, Therese (Blais) Gibeau and Marie Jean Blais, brothers Laurent Blais and Leo Blais. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Wednesday 9:00am at Holy Trinity Parish, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Tuesday from 4 to 7pm. Those who wish to remember Marie Rose in a special way may make contributions to Holy Trinity Parish, Cohoes in her memory.
