Cohoes - Catherine Theresa Schofield Carey, 84, of Cohoes died at the Eddy Village Green, Cohoes on Saturday, September 8, 2012 after a long illness. She was born and educated in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Elias and Catherine Burns Schofield. She was a former parishioner of St. Bernard’s Church, Cohoes and currently a parishioner of St. Ambrose Church, Latham. She was predeceased by her husband, Marcel Carey who passed away in 1989. Mother of Elias (Concetta) Carey of Mechanicville, Deborah (Richard) DeVoe of Cohoes and the late William and Laurie Carey. Grandmother of Nicola (Garret) Billert, Concetta (Joseph) Hmura and Kristie (Christopher) Tamasi. Great Grandmother of Megan and Nicholas Billert, Sydney and Lyndsey Hmura and Sophia and Nico Tamasi . Sister of the late Elias (Lena), John (Jean), Raymond (Ann) and James (Mary) Schofield, also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the staff in House 14 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes for the care and compassion shown to their Mom during her stay there. They also wish to thank the staff from Rensselaer County Community Hospice for the care and compassion given to their Mom during the past year and a half. At Theresa’s request there are no viewing hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Tuesday 11:00am at St. Ambrose Church, Latham where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Waterford. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to The Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center, 43 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, N.Y. 12208 or The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer, N.Y. 12144.
