Obituary of Grace M. Barnes

Grace M. Barnes, 97, formerly of Cohoes and Latham, died peacefully at her daughter's residence on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 after a long illness. She was born in Cohoes and graduated from Cohoes High School and was the daughter of the late Burdett and Mary Roylance Demers. She worked for an insurance company from 1946 and retiring in 1990. She belonged to the Women’s Guild at St. James Church, Saturday Club and the Auxilians and Volunteers of the Eddy Cohoes Rehabilitation Center. Grace led a full life and was an avid card player. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter E. Barnes, Jr. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Mary Ellen Barnes of Latham,and her much adored grandson Nicholas Doseff. Funeral Monday 11:00AM at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes. Interment in Memory Garden’s, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10 to 11AM. Contributions in Grace’s memory can be made to The Community Hospice of Albany in lieu of flowers. Mary Ellen wishes to express her sincere gratitude to friends, co-workers, and boss for their support. Without this support, she would not have been able to fulfill her final promise to her mother. In addition, Grace's family wishes to thank long time companion and caregiver Cindy, caregivers Shaneeka, and Francescia,the staff at Community Hospice of Albany especially nurse Alice and special Sunday friend Mark. Also remembered is dear friend of many years, Ruth, for her devotion and support and Pat who lovingly tended to Grace's beautiful red hair.
