Obituary of Mary E. Brierley

Troy – Mary E. Getty Brierley, 100, of Diamond Rock Terrace, Troy and formerly of Cohoes went to the Lord to be with her husband Charlie on Saturday, April 26, 2014 after a long illness. She was born in Ithaca, N.Y., moved to Cohoes in her youth and educated in Sacred Heart School, St. Bernard’s School and Keveny Memorial Academy. Daughter of the late Delor and Elizabeth Gorman Getty. She was proprietor of Brierley’s Yarn Shop in Cohoes for many years. Predeceased by her husband Charles J. Brierley and her daughter. Survived by her dear friends Marie and Raymond Hassett of Latham. Sister of the late Claire Ferris, also survived by 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Tuesday, 11:00am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Broad Street, Waterford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in Memory’s Garden, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Tuesday morning from 8:30 to 10:30am.
