Obituary of Richard A. LaForest

Richard A. LaForest, 72, of Cohoes passed away at his residence on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 after a long illness. Born and educated in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Wilfred and Eva Carey LaForest. He worked many years as a Labor Foreman for Beltrone Construction and was a member of Local 109 (Labor Union) for 38 years. He belonged to George Street Park Neighborhood Watch. He was loved by many others with the skills he offered them. Predeceased by his wife Janet LaForest, daughter Tammy Merola and sisters Carol Bresette and Diane Demayo. Survivors include his children, John (Judy) LaForest of Cohoes, Marsha Gregoire of Cohoes and Sherri DiNovo of Cohoes, grandfather of Richard and Brandi LaForest Rotko, Sommer Ghetti and Coty O'Keefe, Adam, Kasey and Brent DiNovo, Danielle Palmer DiNovo, Brooke and William Phillips and Molly Merola and 15 great grandchildren. Brother of Marlene Malin of Arizona and Robert LaForest of Watervliet, also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Saturday, 9:00am at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Friday from 4 to 7 pm.
