Laurel "Lol" Fort Charland, 71, of Bushnell, Fla. formerly of Poestenkill, beloved wife and best friend of Joseph Charland for 50 years passed away peacefully surrounded by the ones she loved, lived for and laughed with on May 29, 2017. Born in Cohoes, she attended Cohoes schools and was the daughter of the late Richard and Catherine Fort. Laurel grew up in Cohoes and moved to Poestenkill where she spent most of her life with family. She moved to Florida 22 years ago. She worked most of her life for the State of N.Y. and then in the medical field in Florida. She was predeceased by her husband, Joe Charland; daughter, Brenda Charland; brother, Ronald Fort; sister, Maureen Tornyos; and brother-in-law, Ted Tornyos. Survivors, in addition to her daughter, Alice (Warren) Anderson of Bushnell, Fla.; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. We thank God for the gift of her life and the blessings for all the times we spent together. Laurel (Aka Mommy Dearest) was the best mother anyone could ever ask for. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 12:00 noon.
