Cohoes – Edward W. Houghtaling, 96, of Cohoes passed away at The Eddy Village Green, Cohoes on Thursday, June 15, 2017 after a short illness. Born in Athens, NY and graduated from Athens High School, Class of 1939. Son of the late Edward and Anna Mae Boyles Houghtaling. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving under General George S. Patton, he received the Bronze Star. He was a machine operator at Bendix in Green Island and machine operator at the Cohoes Carrybag. Husband of the late Marie Houghtaling. Survived by nephew Thomas F. (late Barbara) Weaver of Cohoes and great nephews Thomas D. Weaver of Saratoga, David M. Weaver of Altamont and Daniel F. Weaver of Cohoes. Predeceased by his siblings. Funeral Monday 9:00am at The Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Inurnment at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Sunday from 2 to 4pm. Those who wish to remember Ed in a special way may donate to The Eddy Village Green, 421 West Columbia Street, Cohoes, NY 12047, please specify for House 3 Activity Fund. Special thanks to House 3 staff for their excellent care given to Edward.
