Cohoes – George A. (Sonny) Pearson, 95, passed away at The Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Troy on Sunday, June 11, 2017. Born in Cohoes on April 13, 1922 to the late George and Ida (Atkinson) Pearson. George graduated from Cohoes High School in 1940. He was a World War II Army Veteran. He was employed at W.M. Whitney in Albany, Albany Bedding and Troy Mattress. He enjoyed his part time job at Michael's Banquet House in Latham. A member of the Masonic Star Lodge #75 for over 50 years. Husband of the late Dorothy M (Hartshorn) Pearson who died in 1987. Father of Jean L.(Lester) VanVeghten of Cohoes, grandfather of Dana L. (Erin) VanVeghten of Waterford and great grandfather of Derek J. and Carter J. VanVeghten of Waterford. Also survived by several cousins. Funeral Friday, 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Pastor Nick TeBordo officiating. Interment will follow in Waterford Rural Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 7pm.
