Cohoes – Lillian Giroux Fernet, 86, of Cohoes passed away at her home on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. She was born and educated in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Palin and Laurianna Peltier Giroux. Lillian was employed at Samaritan Hospital for many years and by the Cohoes City School District. She loved going to the Racino, playing Bingo, and traveling with her friends Sharon Earl and Rachel Rhem. Wife of the late Joseph Fernet. Sister of the late William J. (late Barbara) Giroux II, aunt of the late Catherine and William Giroux. Survived by her niece Stacy (Robert) Hall of Waterford, grandniece Emily (Fred) Fitch and daughters, Amalia, Briella, Corinna, and Delilah. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:30am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9 to 10:30 prior to the service. Friends who wish to remember Lill in a special way may donate to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association, in her memory.
