Obituary of Shirley C Tschumi
Cohoes – Shirley A. Clark Tschumi, 96, of Cohoes, passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, with her daughter and one of her beloved care takers by her side. She was born in Troy, graduated from Cohoes High School and was the daughter of the late Robert and Elsie Subcleff Clark. Shirley was chief court clerk for the City of Cohoes for over 30 years before her retirement. She was Secretary to Mayor Virginia B. McDonald during her last term in office. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham, a life member of the Willetta Chapter of the Eastern Star and a member and Past President of the Saturday Club of Cohoes, where she brought many wonderful entertainment programs to the enjoyment of the members, also a member of the International Lilac Society. Wife of the late William F. Tschumi. Mother of Ellen (Donald) Fredrickson of Rotterdam and Cohoes, grandmother of Christina (Chrissy) Fredrickson (Michael) Abrial Kay and great grandmother of Cillian Kay. Sister of Kenneth Clark, Sr., and Elaine (Robert) Bristol Foote and sister of the late Robert Clark, Jr., Madeline Fountain-Guest, and Joan O’Hara, also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Rev. M. Gordon Drake officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5pm. Friends who wish to remember Shirley in a special way may donate to Calvary United Methodist Church, Latham, Community Hospice, Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Menands or the ASPCA, Scotia in her memory. The family would like to thank her care takers, Jodie Cusak, Zoila Arana, Elizabeth Green, Felicia Daniele, Mindy Ammons, Saterra Cousch, Jamala Nicholls and Keisha Reid for the wonderful care given to Shirley over the past several years and Hospice for their compassionate care and support.
