Charles G Bessette Obituary

Waterford – Charles G. Bessette, 76, of Waterford passed away at VA Medical Center, Albany on Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was born in Troy and was the son of the late George and Helen Lipka Bessette. He graduated from Cohoes High School, Class of 1966. He served his country in the US Navy, a Vietnam Veteran serving from 1966 to 1970. Charlie was a Security Guard at Momentive in Waterford for many years before retiring. He was a life member of the Brunswick Sportsman’s Club. He was an avid target shooter. He loved his cats and dogs, Yammie, Flee, Leo, Spats, Maxwell, Smokey Joe, and Noir. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Potts Bessette of Waterford. Brother of the late David Bessette. Also survived by his Mother -in-law Shirley Potts, Brother-in-law of Sharon (Clive) Potts-Lamont, Jeanne (late Harold) Potts, nephews Todd (Ann Marie) Potts, Eric (Dana) Potts and Brian Potts, two cousins, Mary Anne Welsh and Alice Marie Marble and many friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at 10:30am.  Interment will follow in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Monday, September 9, 2024, from 4 to 7pm. Friends who wish to remember Charlie in a special way may donate to Whiskers Animal Benevolent League, PO Box 11190, Albany, NY 12211 in his memory.
