Barbara (Barb) Potts Austin, 69, of Cohoes passed away at Samaritan Hospital, Troy on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was born in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Harmon and Hermine Hawkins Potts. She graduated from Cohoes High School Class of 1972 and Hudson Valley Community College with an associate’s degree in human services. She retired from the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation in Albany after many years of service. Barbara enjoyed doing needle point and craft projects. Parishioner and choir member at St. John’s Episcopal Church of Cohoes for many years. Survived by her husband of 47 years, Robert Austin of Cohoes. Mother of Michael (Stacy) Austin of Cohoes and Sarah Austin of Cohoes. Sister of the late William Potts. Also survived by her sister-in-law Mary Lou Potts of Cohoes and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. John’s Episcopal Church of Cohoes, 405 Vliet Blvd, Cohoes on Friday, July 5, 2024, at 10:30am. Friends who wish to remember Barb in a special way may donate to the Arthritis Foundation or St. John’s Episcopal Church in her memory.
