Cohoes – Francis Patrick (Pat) Kenton, 92, of Cohoes, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at The Eddy Village Green. Born and educated in Cohoes, he was the son of the late Frank and Margaret Bowler Kenton. Pat enlisted in the U.S. Navy the day after the Korean War began, serving from 1950-1953 on the USS Holder (DD-819) destroyer ship. Upon returning to civilian duty, he served as Chief of the Cohoes Auxiliary Police for over a decade. He was also employed at Golden Krust Bakery, for over 30 years, where he worked his way up from delivery driver, to managing most of the mechanical aspects of the bakery, to becoming a franchise owner of the Golden Krust Bakery in Saratoga Springs, NY, along with his wife, Lea. In 1995 they retired to Ocala, FL where he resided for 26 years, returning in 2020 to be with his children, accompanied by his loyal furry companion, Max. Pat was recently honored as the Grand Marshal of the Cohoes Memorial Day Parade, for his dedicated service to his country and community ---a day that his family will forever remember and cherish! Pat was the devoted husband of the late Lea E. Kenton of 54 years. Survived by his loving children Sharon L. (Thomas) Garrity and Steven J. (Lisa) Kenton. Siblings, Anna (Jack) Dingley and James Klar. Granddaughters Jocelyn Kenton, Kyle (Dana) Ferris, Amanda (Joseph) Primeau, and Ashley (Herbert) Chapman. Grandsons Matthew (Amanda) Garrity and Anthony (Dean) Kenton. Also survived by ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pat was preceded in death by siblings, Irene Thibodeau, Norrine Trudeau, Edward Kenton, Patricia Walsh, Frank Klar, Mary King, and Karen Klar. The family would like to give special thanks to the dedicated staff at The Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, with special appreciation to Olivia Ward for her unwavering love and support.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend Funeral services to be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at 11:00am. If planning on attending services, please arrive at the cemetery main entrance by 10:45am. Friends who wish to remember Pat in a special way may donate to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Menands, NY in his memory.
