Cohoes – Bernice R. Atchinson, 80, of Cohoes passed away at Samaritan Hospital, Troy on Monday, January 8, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Maximillian and Marie Hamelin Giroux. She was a graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy, Class of 1962. Bernice was a homemaker choosing to raise her family. She was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish, Cohoes. Wife of the late William J. Atchinson, III.  Mother of William (Lisa) Atchinson IV of Alplaus, NY, Antoinette (Toni) Atchinson of Cohoes and Noelle (Marsino) Zandri of South Carolina, grandmother of Samantha (Eric) Ryan and Katelyn Atchinson, Adam, Alexander and Bella Rozycki, and Marsino Zandri Jr., sister of Angel Spickler of Waterford and the late Germain, John Paul, Claire Beaudoin, Donald, Fernand, Jacques, Lorraine Billings, Irene Ballard, Germain Mazur, Denise, Gaston, Michael. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 12, 2024, 10AM at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes. Interment will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Thursday from 5 to 7pm.
