Shirley A Curtis Obituary

Watervliet – Shirley A. Slade Curtis, 85, died peacefully on September 5, 2023.  Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Anna Stephenson Slade.  She was educated in Watervliet schools and worked as a seamstress at Swanknit, Inc. in Cohoes and the Standard Manufacturing Co. in Lansingburgh before retiring.  Shirley was a hardworking, loving and caring mother and grandmother.  She is survived by her children, David Curtis (Donna) of Waterford, Dale Curtis (Tina) of Waterford, John Curtis (Susan) of Cohoes, her stepdaughter, Lisa Bearcock (Matt) of Florida, her grandchildren, Melissa Hunter, Sarah Davey (Dion), Anna Poole (Bryan), Nicholas Curtis (Rebecca), Shane Curtis, Christopher Curtis, Keith Curtis (Sara), Adam Curtis, Sandra Kipp (Austin), Sara Burwell (Sean), Cory Wagner (Marissa), Kyle Curtis (Kaitlyn) Bianca Curtis (Dylan), and her step-grandchildren, Jean-Paul Fucci and Maegan Fucci.  She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.  Shirley was predeceased by her son, Ronald “Ronnie” Curtis (Debbie), her daughter Cynthia “Cinderella” Wagner, her brother Lester Slade (Mary), her granddaughter, Mandy Curtis and her step-granddaughter, Anna-Marie Fucci.  She was also predeceased by the father of her children, Richard W. Curtis.  Shirley was very outgoing and enjoyed exercising at ABC Sports and Fitness.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary in Halfmoon.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 10:00am in the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes, with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Troy.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, from 5 to 7pm.
