Obituary of Mary T. Gomez

Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Cohoes – Mary T. Gomez, 89, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2023.  Mary was born in The Bronx on May 20, 1933, to the late Mary and David Moclair. Mary was raised, educated, married, and started a family in The Bronx.  The Gomez family relocated to Colonie, NY, where both Mary and Ray worked at Macys for many years.  Mary and Ray then moved to Brewster in 1985, enjoying life on The Cape.  After Ray’s passing in 2018, Mary returned to the Colonie area to be near her daughter, and lived at Eddy Village Green in Cohoes.  The family would like to thank the entire staff at Eddy Village, particularly House 22, for their kind and compassionate care.  Mary was a voracious reader and volunteered at the Brewster Ladies Library.  She was a life long NY Yankees fan, having “grown up in the shadow of Yankee Stadium”.  But above all, her favorite thing was spending time with her family.  Having extended family together, or, special times with her grandsons at Long Pond or Breakwater beaches, Mary was happiest surrounded by family.  She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Raymond A. Gomez, Jr. She was also predeceased by her brothers David, Kevin, and John.  She is survived by her children, Stephen Gomez of Portland, OR, and Ellen (Andrew) Bogdan of Latham, NY. She was a loving grandmother to Matthew (Lindsay) Bogdan and Christopher (Susanna) Bogdan, and a great grandmother to Mackenzie Bogdan, whom she adored.    Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on Saturday, February 25th at Holy Trinity Church, 246 Main St., West Harwich.  Entombment to immediately follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Brewster Ladies Library.  Information can be found on the library website.  For condolences, www.dufresnefuneralhome.com.
