Obituary of Joan A. Mosca
Joan A. Mosca, 92, of Cohoes and formerly of North Port, FL passed away at her residence on Friday, January 27, 2023. Born and educated in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Matthew J. and Mary McCarthy McCartan. Prior to moving to Florida, Joan was the business manager and bookkeeper for the Latham Medical Group until at which time she semi-retired and she and her husband moved to Florida in 1987. During her years living in Florida, she worked for two law firms in Key West and when they later moved to North Port she continued to work for two Cardiology practices and most recently for a physical therapy office until her move back north in 2021. She enjoyed working and even at 92 years of age she was still on the hunt for a job when she moved back north. Joan loved spending family time especially vacations to Loon Lake, as well as Saranac Lake sitting on the dock by the water and numerous trips to Vieques Puerto Rico, as well as enjoying her margaritas on the rocks with no salt. She was an avid book reader, a sports enthusiast when it came to the Atlanta Braves. She kept up on all the players as well as their stats and made it a point not to miss a game. Her favorite thing in the world was being a nene, grammie and great grammie. Wife of the late John Mosca. She is survived by her children, Barbara (Edward) Potyrala of Watervliet, Michael (Caroline) Mosca of Halfmoon, Susan Mosca-Osborne of Vieques, Puerto Rico, Kevin (Suzie) Mosca of Sunrise Beach, Texas, and Christopher Mosca of Ballston Lake, grandmother of Tara Wiesley, Erica Tanner, Justin Potyrala, Jaclyn Sickles, Christopher Mosca, Jeanie Mahar, Stephanie Fogarty, Shawn Mosca, Kevin Mosca, Victoria Mosca, Ian Osborne, Audra Norberg, Michael Mosca, Luke Mosca and Samantha Mosca and 12 great grandchildren. Sister of the late Kevin McCartan, and Collins James McCartan. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
