Obituary of Deborah D Ries
Cohoes – Deborah Dixon Ries, 81, of Cohoes passed away at her residence on Monday, November 15, 2021. She was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia and was the daughter of the late Donald and Ruth Lott Dixon. She was educated at Skaneateles High School, graduated from Alfred University in New York, and received her master’s in education from Siena College. Deborah taught Math at Bethlehem Junior High School for 4 years. She also taught US Army soldiers stationed in Okinawa. Most important to Deborah was her devotion to her family, especially her (5) children and (7) grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles B. Ries of Cohoes, her children Stephen M. (Lynn) Ries of Green Island, David (Theresa) Ries of Slingerlands, Jonathan Ries of Latham, Michael (Erika) Ries of Menands and Kimberly (Brian) O’Conor of Wilton, her grandchildren, Jordan, Alex, Emma, Olivia, Courtney, Eric, and Madison. Sister of Carol Ashford and the late Bruce Dixon. Also survived by a nephew. The family would like to give special thanks to Doreen Francese for the care given to Mrs. Ries. Friends who wish to remember Debbie in a special way may donate to the American Diabetes Association, 50 Colvin Avenue, Albany, NY 12206 in her memory. Services are private at the convenience of the family. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Deborah's life at the Century House, on Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 3 to 6pm.
