Obituary of George W. Drescher
Venice, Florida – George W. Drescher, 67, of Venice, Florida and formerly of Cohoes, NY passed away at Glens Falls Hospital, Glens Falls, NY on Tuesday, October 26, 2021. He was born in Cohoes and was the son of the late Christopher and Laura Vaillancourt Drescher. He was educated in St. Joseph School and Cohoes High School. He worked at General Electric in Schenectady, Power Kinetics and retired from Albany Steel after many years. He was a member of Venice East Golf Course, Venice, Florida, and Cronin’s Golf Course, Warrensburgh, NY. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pamela Their. Survivors are his wife, Mary Claire Bourassa Drescher of Venice, Florida and formerly of Cohoes, his son Matthew (Krista Robben) Drescher of Albany, his siblings, Lorraine (Leslie) Gould of Troy, Daniel (Susan) Drescher of Schroon Lake, Alice (Harold) Burdo of Venice, Florida, Barbara (late Joseph) Normile of Cohoes, Richard (Virginia) Drescher of Hoosick Falls, and brother of the late Edward Nolet, Kathleen Varin, Gertrude Coughenour, Christopher (Fred) (Irene) Drescher, Lawrence Drescher, Charles Drescher, Carol Wade, Marie (Joseph) Zennaiter, Edward (Susan) Drescher and Gladys Mayo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021, at 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, October 28, 2021, from 4 to 7pm. Friends who wish to remember George in a special way may donate to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Menands, NY, or Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital in his memory.
