Obituary of Michael J. Czmyr

Cohoes – Michael J. Czmyr, 71, of Cohoes passed away with his family by his side at Albany Medical Center on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.  He was born in Albany and was the son of the late Michael and Anna Trach Czmyr.  He graduated from CBA and Siena College with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.  Michael retired from National grid as a gas planner after 36 years of service.  He was a very active parishioner of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes, serving as an usher, lector for many years, he particularly liked serving at church dinners.  He was a big New York sports fan.  He coached youth sports and was past president of Cohoes Catholic School Athletic Association.  He loved taking vacations with his family to Cape Cod and Myrtle Beach and was a big fan of Disney World.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Deborah Lynch Czmyr, his sons, Greg Czmyr and Kevin (Heather) Czmyr.  Also survived by his brother-in-law, David Lynch, and several cousins.  Funeral Monday, October 4, 2021, at 10:00am at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Inurnment will follow in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery, Watervliet. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Sunday from 2 to 5pm.  Friends who wish to remember Michael in a special way may donate to the Church of the Holy Trinity in his memory.  The family would like to thank Dr. Shaffer and staff at NYOH and Dr. Christie Bialowas of Albany Medical Center for the care and support given to the family.
