Obituary of Archie D Maker
Cohoes – Archie D. Maker III, 77, of Cohoes passed away at Delmar Center, on Saturday, August 28, 2021. He was born in Nunda, NY, raised in Dalton, NY and attended Keshequa High School in, Nunda, NY. Son of the late Archie and Althea Ringleberg Maker II. He studied linguistics at SUNY Albany and later served his country in the Army. He had served as a local pastor at the Tomhannock United Methodist Church in Pittstown. He volunteered and preached at the Capital City Rescue Mission in Albany. He worked for the NYS Legislative Bill Drafting commission as a computer programmer. His hobbies were writing poetry, playing the chromatic harmonica and was a lifelong beekeeper apprenticing under his father. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Wood Maker of Cohoes, his son Archie D. Maker IV of Delmar and father of the late David Maker, stepfather of Wendy Spendiff of Cohoes and Scott (Deanna) Spendiff of Cohoes, also by 7 grandchildren. Brother of Phil (Ronalee) Maker and Mary Bower and the late Anne and Cynthia, also survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at 10:00am at the Newtonville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Nicholas Bufano officiating. Interment will follow in Memory’s Garden, Colonie. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL Home, Inc., 216 Columbia, Cohoes on Wednesday from 4 to 7pm.
