Obituary of Diane M Schmitz

Cohoes – Diane M. Jablonowski Schmitz, 74, of Cohoes passed away at Samaritan Hospital, Troy on Saturday, August 28, 2021, after a long illness.  She was born and educated in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Edward and Beatrice Oldham Jablonowski.  She was an auditor at Fleet Services in Taxation and Finance, later as a homemaker raising her family.  Diane enjoyed traveling and camping, she loved decorating for the holidays, hosting family get togethers.  Time with family was most important, she never missed an opportunity to play cards with friends or visit the casino. Wife of the late William Schmitz Jr.  Mother of Edward Schmitz of Ballston Lake and the late William Schmitz III, grandmother of Amanda (Joshua) Marks, Nicole Schmitz, Cassie Schmitz and Madelyn Schmitz and great grandmother of Nicholas and Colin Marks.  Sister of the late Jean Combs and Mary Pailley.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes.  Interment will follow in Waterford Rural Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:00 prior to the service.  Friends who wish to remember Diane in a special way may donate to the National Kidney Foundation in her memory.
