Cohoes – Joyce Marion Fichura Daigneault, 88, of Cohoes, died peacefully at her residence on August 7, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Cohoes, the daughter of the late John Fichura and Mabel Goyette Fichura.  She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School Class of ’52.  She married her beloved husband Robert R. Daigneault on September 5, 1953.  They cherished 52 years of marriage prior to his passing on October 10, 2005.  She worked for the Cohoes City School District for 25 years.  She was a dedicated food service worker retiring in June 2005.  She was a parishioner of St. Mary of The Assumption Church.  She was a former parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church in Cohoes, where she served on the St. Anne Society and was an active member of the choir and St. Joseph’s Activities Society.  She was a member of the Cohoes Columbiettes Council #192 and an avid bowler like everyone in the Daigneault family.  She is survived by her children, Robert (Margaret) of Latham, John (Betsy) of Waterford, James (Sue) of Cohoes, Barbara (John) Marois of Waterford, Raymond (Kelly) of Cohoes, Kenneth of Cohoes, Edward (Margie) of Loudonville and Daniel (Carolyn) of Rensselaer.  Grandmother of Robert Jr., Nicholas, Tricia, Eric, Stephanie, Amanda, Heidi, Hannah, Meghan, Haley, Dr. Anthony Marois, Sarah Marois, Ricky, Tanya, Ryan, Christopher, Benjamin, Brandon, Heather, Gabrielle, and Melissa.  She had fifteen great-grandchildren.  Survived by her sister, Patricia (William) Cetnar of Cohoes and sister of the late Mabel Sausville, Marilyn Rosney and Nancy Knauf (the late Henry), also survived by her brother-in-law Ronald Sausville of Cohoes and her sister-in-law Ann Meyer of Savannah, Ga.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  Funeral Thursday, August 12, 2021, 10:00am at St. Mary of The Assumption Church, Broad Street, Waterford where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, from 4 to 7pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joyce’s memory to Cohoes Fire Department, Cheer for Children Program. Due to the increase in COVID, masks will be required in the funeral home.
