Our condolences to the Verberg family. Tom's brother Wayne has been a family friend for many, many years and he always spoke fondly of Tom. RIP Tom.

I worked with Tom down at the State (pretty sure he was in the Budget Division General Government Unit, then Department of State) and rode with him for many, many years with the Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club. We collaborated on Information Technology projects at the State and he helped me out with the Bicycle Club web site over the years. I remember that he was still riding like a much younger person "off the front" of our club rides in 2019 even though I knew he had been hurt by at least one serious bicycle/motorized vehicle accident. I didn't see him during our year of Covid but thought it was just because there were fewer rides.
This Winter I was thinking of calling to see how he was doing. I waited too long.
My best to Missy and the family on behalf of the entire Mohawk Hudson Cycling Club and Tom's many friends in the area.
He is in the Center back row at the Top of Mt. Greylock in 2009 in the picture. He will stay in the center of our thoughts and prayers.

Michelle, Jennifer, Missy and Nick:
Where to begin...Tom was very much like a father to me. Always there to help with something like painting my house, fixing my car, or just to give life advice. Through countless vacation trips, golf outings, skiing adventures and more, he was the patriarch leading the way. If not for him, I might not have experienced many of those things. Michelle, Jenn, and Nick, your success in life is a testament to him...I know he is so very proud of you all. Our lives may have taken us on different paths, but I feel like a part of me is gone, and I know I will miss him forever.

Wayne, so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I will always remember getting to know him a little better on that hike up to Mt Monadnock.

I'm thinking of you all. I'm sending you all healing thoughts. Tom was
instrumental in my son, Zach's scouting experience. He was a amazing
mentor. Nick, you and your dad seemed to have a great connection. My
heart goes out to you, losing your dad, so young. Find peace in knowing
he accomplished so much and was loved and appreciated by so many.
A favorite quote of mine is "Use your life on something that long outlasts
it. " Clearly your Dad's legacy has touched many. A life well live, indeed~
Shalom.
