Obituary of Maria R. Turner

Maria R. (Pondillo) Turner, 68, of Cohoes, passed away at Samaritan Hospital, Troy with her family by her side on Friday, January 29, 2021. She was born in Cohoes and was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ruth Waterhouse Pondillo. She was educated in Cohoes and Troy High School. Maria retired from Fawn Ridge in Troy as a resident aide with over 20 years of service. She loved game night with her friends at Ogden Mills. Wife of the late George D. Turner. Mother of David A. (Rita) Edwards, Jr. of Mechanicville, Brian J. (Patricia) Edwards of Troy and Michael J. Edwards, Sr. of Mechanicville, survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sister of Iola Derocher, Samuel Pondillo, Jr., John Pondillo and Susan Edwards, all of Cohoes, also survived by several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 10:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens, Colonie. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 6pm. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed inside and outside of the funeral home.
