Obituary of Earl W Liberty
Cohoes – Earl W. Liberty, 86, of Cohoes passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, after a long illness. Born in Utica, NY, he was a graduate of LaSalle Institute. Son of the late Earl W. and Florine Patenaude Liberty and the late Nelson Green. Earl was a US Air Force Veteran, proudly serving his country for 23 years. He worked at Huyck Felt in Rensselaer and the Watervliet Arsenal, from which he retired. Never content to sit still, Earl continued to work for the next 20 years as a self-employed handyman. He was a self-taught master craftsman and woodworker and enjoyed taking on challenging and complex projects. Earl was a parishioner and Eucharistic minister at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes, where he eagerly shared his many gifts and talents. His contributions included refinishing the pews as well as the floors and cabinets, creating a Memorial Wall, making the crosses that hung on it for five years, and designing and creating the ashuary for cremations and the processional cross and candles. When he thought something was needed in the church, he would share his ideas with the pastor and then make them real, generously donating his time and supplies. His work was always a true gift. Husband of the late Jean LePage Liberty. Father of Debra Liberty of Boca Raton, FL, Lory (Terry) Taylor of Cohoes, NY, Vaughn (Irene) Liberty of Cohoes and Earl (Mary Catherine) Liberty of Kathleen, GA, and grandfather of Abigail Liberty. Brother of Lourdes Bruneau of Cohoes and the late Joan Liberty and Lucille Green Jackman. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral Wednesday 9:00am at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes, on Tuesday from 5 to 7pm.
