– Richard C. (Dick) Shakerley, 66, of Clifton Park, passed away at his residence on Saturday, July 7, 2018 surrounded by his family after a long illness.  Born in Troy, he graduated from Ichabod Crane High School. He was the son of the late Richard and Helen Malone Shakerley.  Dick entered the fire service industry at the young age of 18, starting in Palmer Engine and Hose Co. in Kinderhook.  Through his 40 plus years in the fire service he was a member of Niverville Fire Department, Hoags Corners Fire Department where he rose through the ranks and became Chief of the Department, North Bethlehem, and finishing his active fire service career in West Crescent Fire Department where he was a fireman and Comissioner. Although he received many alcolades through his time in the fire service the one he was most proud of was his presentation of  life membership to the Tsatsawassa Fire Department. His truest pride and joy was starting his business, VRS Sales, that allowed him to be around fireman and fire engines.  Dick is the beloved husband of Virginia R. McClure Shakerley of Clifton Park, father of Nate (Nicole) Shakerley of Troy, Rich (Nikki) Shakerley of Clifton Park and A.J. Shakerley of Clifton Park.  Grandfather of Sabrina, Abigale and Emma Shakerley also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday 11:00AM  at the Church of Saint Joseph, Stuyvesant Falls, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie, NY.
