Joyce Hampel Dudek, 86, peacefully passed away surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at Baptist Health Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Scotia. She was born February 28, 1930 in Cohoes, NY and was the daughter of the late Theodore Hampel and Grace Lynch. She was the step-daughter of the late Helen Hampel. Joyce graduated from Cohoes High School, receiving her Bachelor's Degree in Latin from Albany State Teachers College, and her Master's Degree in Education from SUNY Oneonta. She worked as a teacher in Cohoes Schools until she married Edward Dudek, at which time she stayed at home to raise her family. Joyce lived in Cohoes until moving to Branson Manor in East Greenbush where she made good friends and enjoyed many activities. She enjoyed and celebrated every birthday, holiday and anniversary by sending cards to everyone she loved. Joyce loved listening to talk radio and was an avid Young and the Restless fan. Above all, Joyce loved her family with her whole heart. Her grandsons lovingly called her Gramma Camera. Joyce is survived by two sons; Edward (Quincey) Dudek of Ballston Spa, NY, James (Francis) Dudek of Richmond, CA. two daughters; Grace (Daniel) O'Connor of Glenville, NY and Christina (James) Joseph of Saratoga Springs, NY and grandsons Ryan O'Connor of Redmond, WA, Sean O'Connor of Glenville, Shayne and Conor Dudek of Ballston Spa. Also survived by nieces Joyce (Dave) Lukas, Kathy (Ed) Twiss, Nancy Tolak and nephew John (Edie) Dudek. She also leaves behind Alice Lyons, her best friend of 80 years. Predeceased by her husband of 24 years Edward Dudek, sister June Zarzycki and dear friend Hilda Vogel. A special thank you to Baptist Health Nursing Center for their dedicated and compassionate care of Joyce during her time there. They went above and beyond providing comfort to Joyce and her family during this difficult time. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Monday October 17, 2016 from 4 to 7pm. Funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.
