Irene Y. LaCombe Quell, 85, of Cohoes passed away at her daughters’ home on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 after a brief illness.  She was born in Waterford and graduated from St. Joseph’s School, Cohoes.  Daughter of the late Arthur and Eva Mae LaPlante LaCombe. Irene worked at National Automotive Fiber in Cohoes, Covert Manufacturing Company in Watervliet and later retired from Cohoes Fashions after working there for many years.  She was an avid NY Yankees fan and she loved Elvis Presley.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, attending their sporting events, dance practices, recitals and school events.  Wife of the late John A. Quell, Sr. Survivors include her children, John A. (Elaine) Quell, Jr. of Malta, Carol A. (Christopher) Castle of Watervliet and David E. (Rebecca) Quell, Sr. of Watervliet, her grandchildren, David E. Quell, Jr., Natalie C. Castle, Alexis and Brendan Treadwell.  Sister of the late Edward LaCombe, Yvonne Desautels and Arthur LaCombe.  Also survived by nieces and nephews.  Funeral Saturday, May 26, 2018 9:00am from Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.  Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Friday from 4 to 7pm.
