Joseph C. Pacholik, 91, of Cohoes passed away at Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush on Friday, January 15, 2016 after a long illness. Born in Cohoes, a graduate of Cohoes High School and he attended Hudson Valley Community College. Son of the late Peter and Helen Filomina Pacholik. He was a World War II Navy Veteran, Gunner's Mate Third Class. He served on the USS Otterstetter Destroyer Escort and he received the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, European-African-Meddle Eastern Campaign, Navy Occupation Service Medal with Asia Clasp, China Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He retired from Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Watervliet after many years of service. A member of the United Church of Cohoes. He loved helping his neighbors, he loved to work outside and playing horse shoes with his son-in-law Jimmy. He loved going to Brown's Beach and ice skating. He is survived by his wife, June Merrill Pacholik of Cohoes, his daughters, Holly Merrill Spofford and JoAnna (JoJo) Pacholik both of Cohoes. Brother of the late Anna (Walter) Jaronski, also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Predeceased by his son-in-law Jimmy Spofford. Funeral Thursday, 11 :30am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Inurnment will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30am prior to the service. The family would like to thank the staff at Evergreen Commons for the care given to Joe. In lieu of flowers, a contribution for JoAnna would be appreciated.
