Troy – Joseph V. Goyette, 84, of Seaforth Road, Troy and formerly of Congress Street, Cohoes died at his home on Friday, August 16, 2013 after a long illness. He was born and educated in Cohoes and was the son of the late Joseph P. and Josephine Foster Goyette. He and his brother Stanley were partners in the family business, Goyette’s Plumbing and Heating in Cohoes for over 50 years. He belonged to St. Joseph’s Church Men’s Club and was an Usher and Lecturer. He was a Cub Scout Master and assistant Scout Master in the Boy Scouts of America. He was involved in the Cohoes Little League for over 40 years. He was an MP in the US Army, serving from 1951-1953. He was an avid bowler, Denver Broncos and St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved fishing. He is survived by his wife, of 59 years, Jeanne Piche Goyette of Troy, his children, Kathleen (Daniel) Napoli of Cohoes, Michael (Donna) Goyette of Manlius, N.Y., David (Gloria) Goyette of Scotia, Matthew (Juanita) Goyette of Troy, Andrew (Debbie) Goyette of Cohoes and Lawrence Goyette of Watervliet; and his brother Stanley Goyette of Waterford, he was predeceased by his sister Loretta Malesky of Cohoes. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren who will miss their Pip and his niece Carol LaPointe of Troy. Funeral Wednesday 10:30AM at the Church of the Holy Trinity, Cohoes where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment 12:30 PM at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Tuesday from 4 to 7pm. Special thanks to Lisa, Penny and Jeffrey of St. Peter’s Hospice for the excellent care they provided Joe. Those who wish to remember Joe in a special way may make a donation to St. Peter’s Hospice or the Cohoes Little League.
