Obituary of Gail P Smith

Cohoes – Gail P. Smith, 68, of Cohoes, passed away at Albany Medical Center Hospital on Monday, August 7, 2023.  She was born in Troy and was the daughter of the late James and Constance Felt Whalen. Educated in Troy and was a graduate of Cohoes High School, Class of 1974. Gail retired from the Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany after 37 ½ years of service.  She loved to play Bingo.  She belonged to the Charter School Grandmas Association in Albany.  She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Keith Smith of Cohoes.  Mother of Christopher (Kimberly) Smith of Cohoes, Constance Smith of Cohoes, and Keith Smith (Kimberly LeQue) of Cohoes, grandmother of Alexius, Kya, I’lah, James and Carter.  Sister of James (Kathy) Whalen, Jr., and Colleen (Jack) Hartman, also survived by nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 14, 2023, at 11:00am at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waterford.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00am prior to the service.
