
Obituary of Susan J Giunta
Troy – Susan J. Slater Giunta, 83, of Troy passed away at Evergreen Commons, East Greenbush on Saturday, June 28, 2025. She was born in Troy and was the daughter of the late Robert and Jane Shipman Slater. She was a graduate of Shaker High School. Susan retired as a clerk from New York State Teachers Retirement after many years of service. She liked her crafts, crossword puzzles, camping, garage sales and going on vacation, she was big on DIY home improvements, family gatherings and babysitting her eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Christmas and Halloween were her favorite times of the year. Wife of the late Anthony R. Giunta. Survived by her children, Felicia “Lisa” Sawyer Bones (Ausberto) of Watervliet, Bernie (Tracie) Sawyer of Cambridge and Barbara Sawyer Wangler of Troy. Grandmother of Angie Franco, Ian Hasslinger (Casey), Amanda Coleman (Robert), Alex Sawyer (Samantha), Billy Wangler (Felicia), Joshua Wangler (Molly), Alicia Cruz (Anthony), and Casey Wangler, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Sister of the late Charles Slater, also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. Funeral services will be held at the Dufresne Funeral Home, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 12 noon. Inurnment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Cohoes. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning from 10:00 to 12:00 noon prior to the service.
