
Obituary of James S. Akley
Cohoes – James S. Akley, 55, of Cohoes passed away at Samuel Straton VA Medical Center, Albany on Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born in Cohoes and was the son of Linda Carpenter Akley of Cohoes and the late James Akley. He graduated from Shaker High School. He served his country in the US Marine Corps during Operation Desert Storm. He worked in floor covering for many years in the capital district area. Jim liked hunting, golfing, and playing darts. He enjoyed his two grandchildren and was excited for the third to arrive in late summer. He also enjoyed his canine companion, Annie. Survivors in addition to his mother are his wife Paula Marshall Akley of Cohoes, his daughter, Erica Akley of Green Island, and his grandchildren Jeremiah and Jace. Brother of Heidi Akley and William Stata of Grafton and Holly (Dave) McGreevy of Cohoes. Son-in-law of Linda Marshall of Cohoes, also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles. The family will receive friends at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 4 to 7pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY. Friends who wish to remember Jim in a special way may donate to the American Heart Association in his memory.
