
Obituary of James J Lamarche
Amsterdam – James J. LaMarche, 69, of Amsterdam, NY passed away after a brief illness at his sister Barbara’s home in Cohoes, NY on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born in Cohoes, NY and was the son of the late Alfred and Alice Morties LaMarche. He was a 1973 graduate of Keveny Memorial Academy. Jim was a self-employed real estate appraiser in the greater Capital District area for many years. Predeceased by his sister Nancy Dreimiller, survived by her husband Nick Dreimiller and family. Also survived by his siblings, Gary LaMarche and family, Barbara LaMarche, Mary Alice and Billy Cole and family. God-Daughter Meredith Alice whom he cherished and took great pride in his role as God-Father Uncle Jimmy. Jimmy’s best known for his anticipated arrival at family gatherings, especially Christmas with quirky, practical, and funny gifts. Bringing himself to the party will be missed and remain a favorite family memory. Also known for his legacy of countless emails staying in touch from a quick hello checking-in to weather alerts to funny one-liners to guidance, comfort, and concern. He had a way of knowing what to say and when. Jim was often making new friends and always staying in touch with old friends. He showed kindness and patience with others. And he would take the time to make someone laugh or brighten their day with his smile. Friends are welcome to join the family for a simple service to be held at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:00pm.
