Obituary of Eleanor R. Turner

Prescott, AZ – Eleanor McKeon Turner, 95, born in Pittsfield, MA on September 12, 1922, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 23rd, 2017 with her family by her side. Daughter of the late Mary Agnes Bowman McKeon and John Joseph McKeon. Eleanor is also predeceased by her husband Peter E. Turner, brother Joseph McKeon, sister Jane Toomey and grandson Jesse Turner. She graduated from St. Joseph School in 1940. She married Peter Turner December 18th, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL prior to being shipped overseas, he was a US Marine Corp veteran. Eleanor worked at the Rice's Silk Mill during the war. She volunteered at BMC gift shop for many years and retired in 1990 from Berkshire Eagle Mail office. In 2004 she and Peter moved from Pittsfield, MA to New York State to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. In 2016 she and her daughter Joyce made the move to Prescott, AZ. There they were able to help out with family there. Eleanor always loved being around her family, they all meant the world to her. She was happiest when they gathered at her home. She will be most dearly missed. Eleanor was a wonderful Mom and grandmother and a terrific role model. Eleanor is survived by her loving children, Peter A. Turner (Susan) of Hampstead, MD, Mark Turner (Sharon)of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joyce Fargnoli (Keith Rhodes) of Prescott, AZ, and Wayne Turner of New Galis, Mexico. Also survived by 11 beloved grandchildren and 22 loveable great grandchildren, her brother Richard McKeon (Rena) of Youngstown, NY and many nieces and nephews. Thanks to Glassford Place and Maggie's Hospice for the wonderful care. In accordance to Eleanor's wishes, there will be no calling hours or services. She will be interred with her husband at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, NY.
