Mary Lou Burke Dion, 85, of Cohoes passed away at Van Rensselaer Manor, Troy on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 after a long illness. Born in Cohoes, she graduated from Cohoes High School and was the daughter of the late James and Loretta LaPointe Burke. She worked for New York Telephone Company in Albany for several years, then raised her children, and later retired from the NYS Department of Taxation and Finance after 17 years of service. She was a member of St. Anne’s Church, Waterford Ladies of Ste. Anne, and later a parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, Cohoes. For 60 years she and her close high school friends met monthly for lunch. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald Dion of Cohoes, her children, Thomas (Susan) Dion of Cohoes, Greg (Tami) Dion of The Villages, Florida, Dale Dion of Hollywood, Florida, Mary Ann (John) DeMio of Waterford and Rodney (Carolyn) Dion of Cohoes; grandmother of Chris (Tara) Dion, Ryan (Nicole) Dion, Jason (Erin) Dion, Fallon (Joshua) Jennings, Allison Gregory, Keith (Kayla) Gregory, Tyler Dion and Reagan Dion, step-grandchildren Justin (Caitlyn) Walls and Jessica Walls and 6 great grandchildren; loving sister of Joseph Burke of Cohoes, sister-in-law of Lawrence Ouimet and Earl and Ann Dion, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The Funeral Service will be Sunday at 5:00pm at the DUFRESNE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 216 Columbia Street, Cohoes with The Rev. James Mackey officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5pm.
